There are many false doctrines in various religions and church denominations.  But here we are focusing on the false doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church.

False Doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church

Please note, this page is only to expose the false doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, and not to condemn the people of this church.  God has many of His sincere people in this church and is calling them out of it.

When you have a church that proclaims power over the Word of God, then you can understand how easy it would be to deceive the masses with false doctrines. The Roman Catholic Church speak blasphemies, putting the pope in the place of God Almighty, saying they have power over the very Word of God, to be able to change it. God has given no such power to any man or denomination. The reason the Roman Catholic Church wants to keep you away from the Word of God, is because that very Word exposes the Catholic Church to be evil.

Take a look at these quotes from the Catholic Church, claiming power over God's Word:

The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth." Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, "Cities Petrus Bertanous".

"The Pope's authority is unlimited, incalculable; it can strike, as Innocent III says, wherever sin is; it can punish every one; it allows no appeal and is itself Sovereign Caprice; for the Pope carries, according to the expression of Boniface VIII, all rights in the Shrine of his breast. As he has now become infallible, he can by the use of the little word, "orbi," (which means that he turns himself round to the whole Church) make every rule, every doctrine, every demand, into a certain and incontestable article of Faith. No right can stand against him, no personal or corporate liberty; or as the [Roman Catholic] Canonists put it—"The tribunal of God and of the pope is one and the same." -Ignaz von Dollinger, "A Letter Addressed to the Archbishop of Munich" 1871; as quoted in MacDougall, The Acton Newman Relations (Fordham University Press) pp. 119,120

The Pope has the power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ." "The Pope has the authority and often exercised it, to dispense with the command of Christ." Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcop. Cap. (The Pope can modify divine law.) Ferraris' Ecclesiastical Dictionary

The authority of the church could therefore not be bound to the authority of the Scriptures, because the Church had changed...the Sabbath into Sunday, not by command of Christ, but by its own authority." Canon and Tradition, p. 263

"The Bible says, Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day. The Catholic church says, No! By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day, and command you to keep the first day of the week. And lo, the entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic church!" Father Enright, C.S.S.R. of the Redemptoral College, Kansas City, Mo., History of the Sabbath, p. 802

Note: The Roman Catholic Church changed the Sabbath Day.  You can read about this by clicking The Sabbath Day,

The doctrines of the Catholic Church are entirely independent of Holy Scripture." Familiar Explanation of Catholic Doctrine, Rev. M. Muller, p.151

What does God reveal about His Word?

Hebrews 4:12 ….'For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.' …… It has power that no pope can change or control. Remember, God does not change ….. Malachi 3:6 ….'For I AM the LORD, I change not.'

Isaiah 40:8 ....' The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.'

1 Peter 1:25 ….' But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.' ….. The Word of God stands forever. It never changes and therefore no one else can change it either.

Let's take a look at these doctrinal issues with the Catholic Church:

The Catholic Church claim that Mary, Jesus' earthly mother, was sinless and that she is in heaven now mediating for her people, and she sits as queen of Heaven and mother of God. See the following quotes showing this belief:

"Holy Scripture was written to Mary, about Mary, and on account of Mary." St. Bernard

As a result, just as He is now King of the Universe, she is Queen of the Universe. "And her kingdom is as vast as that of her Son and God, since nothing is excluded from her dominion" (Pius XII, Bendito seia, May 13, 1946).

Vatican II, echoing earlier papal teaching, tells us that at the cross she was asked even to "consent" to the death of her Son (LG # 58). Pope John Paul II, in his Encyclical, The Mother of the Redeemer, set out to further deepen that teaching.

'she became not only the Mother of God in the physical order of nature, but also in the supernatural order of grace, she became the Mother of all.' Pius XII, in a message to the Marian Congress of Ottawa, Canada, on July 19, 1947

What does God's Word say about Mary?

Luke 1:46-47 ...' And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.' ….. So if Mary needed a savior, as she suggested herself in the above verse, then she was not sinless. Mary was a sinner just like you and me, as God's Word declares that "ALL have sinned and fallen short", and that includes Mary. She calls Jesus her LORD and SAVIOR, so she cannot be the mother of God, the way that the Catholic Church describe her. I'm not putting Mary down in any way. She was blessed in that God chose her to give birth to Jesus as a man, but that's it. She is now in her grave awaiting the resurrection, like everyone else.

The Roman Catholic Church also claim that Mary is now a co-redeemer with Jesus, as shown in the following quotes:

"that we may rightly say she redeemed the human race together with Christ." Benedict XV, Inter Sodalicia, 1918

Plus XI, Miserentissimus Redemptor, 1928: "Confiding in her intercession with Jesus, "the one Mediator of God and man, who wished to associate his own Mother with himself as the advocate of sinners, as the dispenser and mediatrix of grace."

John Paul II, Dives in Misericordia, 1980, quoting Lumen Gentium, "In fact, by being assumed into heaven she has not laid aside the office of salvation but by the manifold intercession she continues to obtain for us the grace of eternal salvation."

And what is the Bible truth on this?

1 Timothy 2:5 …' For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.' …… We cannot take this verse any other way. There is ONE mediator, Jesus Christ. Mary does not mediate for us. She was part of the fallen human race and cannot in any way do this, only Christ Jesus can.

The Roman Catholic Church claim that salvation is only possible through them. Is this true? Let's see what they say:

"The Saviour Himself is the door of the sheepfold: 'I am the door of the sheep.' Into this fold of Jesus Christ, no man may enter unless he be led by the Sovereign Pontiff; and only if they be united to him can men be saved, for the Roman Pontiff is the Vicar of Christ and His personal representative on earth." (Pope John XXIII in his homily to the Bishops and faithful assisting at his coronation on November 4, 1958).

"There is no salvation outside the Church (Catholic Church)."   Pope John Paul II, Radio Message for Franciscan Vigil in St. Peter's and Assisi, October 3, 1981, L'Osservatore Romano, October 12, 1981

"No one ever finds Christ but with and through Mary. Whoever seeks Christ apart from Mary seeks Him in vain." St. Bonaventure

"This is our last lesson to you: receive it, engrave it in your minds, all of you: by God's commandment salvation is to be found nowhere but in the Church; the strong and effective instrument of salvation is none other than the Roman Pontificate." (Pope Leo XIII, Allocution for the 25th anniversary of his election, February 20, 1903; Papal Teachings: The Church, Benedictine Monks of Solesmes, St. Paul Editions, Boston, 1962, par. 653).

The last line of the 1302 ad Bull Unam Sanctam... Issued by POPE BONIFACE VIII states; we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff. -UNAM SANCTAM (Promulgated November 18, 1302) (For a complete look at this quote, see this... http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/b8-unam.html or this... http://www.papalencyclicals.net/Bon08/B8unam.htm )

But the Word of God says:

Acts 4:10-12 ….' that by the name of Jesus Christ.' ……..' Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.' …… There we have it! We are not saved by Mary. We are not saved by the pope. We are not saved by any church. We are saved by Christ Jesus and Him alone.

Roman Catholic prayers are full of repetition. Take a look at nuns praying on any Catholic TV channel and you will see them praying to Mary for about 5 minutes with a lot of repetition, and then praying to Jesus for only about 1 minute, again with just repetitive words. What does God's Word say about this?

Matthew 6:7 ….' But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.' …… We are to pray from our own hearts, praising and thanking God for what He has done, giving our cares and troubles to Him, not speaking from a repetitive script like Catholic prayers.

Over the years, the Roman Catholic Church have said that we cannot base our faith on the Word of God (The Bible), but we must base our faith only on their doctrines. The following comments show their rejection of the Bible, which is the Word of God:

"Do you allow your flock to read the Bible at all?" said a writer in the Contemporary Review to a friend of his, a parish priest. "No, sir, I do not; you forget that I am a physician, not a poisoner of souls." -Contemporary Review April, 1894, p. 576

"The doctrines of the Catholic Church are entirely independent of Holy Scripture." Familiar Explanation of Catholic Doctrine, Rev. M. Muller, p.151.

The decree set forth in the year 1229 A.D. by the Council of Valencia... places Bible on The Index of Forbidden Books. The doctrine withholds "it is forbidden for laymen (common man) to read the Old and New Testaments. - We forbid them most severely to have the above books in the popular vernacular." "The lords of the districts shall carefully seek out the heretics in dwellings, hovels, and forests, and even their underground retreats shall be entirely wiped out." Council Tolosanum, Pope Gregory IX, Anno. Chr. 1229

The church Council of Tarragona ruled that: "No one may possess the books of the Old and New Testaments in the Romance language, and if anyone possesses them he must turn them over to the local bishop within eight days after the promulgation of this decree, so they may be burned." D. Lortsch, Histoire de la Bible en France, 1910, p.14.

"...A dead and speechless book." -Question Box, p. 67

"The Bible was not intended to be a textbook of Christian religion." -Catholic Facts, p. 50

What does the Bible reveal itself as? ……. 2 Timothy 3:16 …..' All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.' ….. It is the inspired Word of God.

And what do we do with the Word of God? ……. Matthew 4:4 ….' But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.' ….. We live off the Word of God. The Bible is the foundation of our faith, NOT the Catholic Church or the pope. Jesus will reveal His truth to each and every one of us, if we just ask Him, believe He will do it, and study His Word.

Is there a true Bible version out there?  Click which Bible version? to find out.

As we have seen from all that is written above, the Roman Catholic Church believe that we can only get salvation through them. They believe that we should follow their doctrines, rather than the Bible, the very Word of God. They believe we should bow down to their authority and worship the pope and Mary. But the Word of God says different …… Matthew 4:10 …' Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.' …… Serve God!! it's plain and simple. We have no need of ANY organization or man to save us. We have no need of any organization or man to direct us. We ONLY need Jesus and to follow His Word.

The Word of God exposes the teachings/doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church as the teachings of satan.  This is why the Catholic Church do not like the Bible, because it exposes them as an apostate church.  Anything that is contrary to the truth of God, is of satan.  The leaders of the Church of Rome may seem righteous, but as God's Word says .....2 Corinthians 11:14 ....'And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.' ..... The Word of God is the bases of our faith and we must test any doctrine against the Word of God.
